Week Three

I have more to report this week. We got a lot done at work. Took some more pictures as well. I'm sure you kids will enjoy the pics. Although there are none yet of the warm sunny beaches that you think of when you think of Hawaii. I'll put those up when I remember to take my camera to the beach.

Ok. So, here we go with the pictures. I'll give you the play by play:

In this picture, what you see is the lack of an ocean. If you scroll down to Week 2, you will notice that there is an ocean. You might be wondering, "What happened to the Pacific?" It's still there, it's just that it's raining and you can't see it. It rained on us all day that day. Not fun, but very muddy.

In this picture you see a bunch of poles. Not just any poles. These are Ropes Course Poles. The poles vary in height from 35ft, 45ft, and 55ft. We put these poles in place using very heavy machines and lots of manpower. Fun stuff!

Here is another set of poles that we put up. These are also part of the rope course, just not at the same place you just saw. These are for a tower. I believe that these are 55ft, but I'm not too sure. I'll ask later about that.

Now just to give you guys some scale. This is Zeke, he stands about 6'5"-6'6". Yup! Those poles are massive.

Just to give you some more scale. This is Gnat (pronounced Nat, the G is silent), he stands at about 5'10" or so. And I'm standing on a 15ft-20ft pile of mulch.

Here are a few Rainbow pics. Enjoy!

This Rainbow and . . . I think one of the other ones, is only a few hundred yards from us. Super close!

I realize that these Rainbows are beautiful. But just to be clear. It pours on us before we see these guys. Not always, but sometimes.
I think I failed to mention this on my last entries, but I work in a . . . RAINFOREST! How freakin' sweet is that!?

And this is Gnat . . . well you get the idea.

This here is the glorious deck that we built and stained(my Tio Rene would be proud). It rained on us all day that day.

The next two pictures are of our fleet of vehicles (not all of them) that we drive up to the site everyday. You gonna dig this.

Two more.

One would think that it would take days, maybe weeks to get these vehicles looking like this. Nah. It only takes one drive up the mountain. Not long at all. We off-road everyday. Some of us might even be amateur level rally car drivers by the time this job is done. Who knows?

Well kiddos, that's about all I got for this edition. I hope you enjoyed it and feel free to leave some comments. It helps to know that people are actually reading this. Know what I mean?

Your blog is actually pretty funny. I love the pic of "the lack of an ocean". Rain, mud, hard work. Are you sure you're on Maui and they didn't just tell you that? Did you look out the window of the airplane when you landed? The Hawaii I remember is a place where no one really works much.

But I'm just messing with you, it still seems like a great thing to do. If you can, try scuba diving. That's way cooler than surfing. You can get certified as an instructor. Go see Lao Valley too.
It's pretty incredible.

So who gets to wash the vehicles? Do you get to drive the Jeep? I can't believe you guys put up those poles and built that deck. Looks like you may become some handyman after this job, eh?

When are we going to get to see a picture with you in it?
