Week Five

So here we are at week 5. Time sure is flying by. Work continues to go on as usual. Nothing really to write about, but I have some pictures to put up. Here we go. Enjoy!

Sunset on Maui. The Island is Lanai.

Sitting in the same spot. It's only been about five minutes and the colors have changed pretty dramatically.

Still enjoying the sunset.

One of the neighbors.

The Pan . . .

. . . O . . .

. . . ramic Rainbow.

This lil' guy was in town named Paia. Really cool place. It's a really cool hippie town.

Another shot and . . .

here's what it is.

Here a glimpse of some the driving conditions. Mind you, it's not raining.

It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's . . .

Super Randy.

I gave it a try as well. Pretty heavy stuff.

Local wildlife.

Still working on the ropes course. Always some work to be done. Lookin' better everyday.

Everybody go . . . forklift surfing?!

Getting the tower on the ropes course done. Not done yet, but gettin' there.

Sunset at the office.

Not a bad way to end the day.

Sunset at the course.

Long day of work.

Week 4

I can't really think of anything that's gone on. I took plenty of pictures. So, that might be all I do for my blog today. Just put up the pictures and some captions along with them. Here ya go.

The obligatory Rainbow pic. Don't worry, there will be more.

Ta Da! Here I am. This is after one of the downpours and after we had to carry a bunch of steel up a slippery, muddy, raining mountain side. Fun stuff.

I got a few more of these. Please be patient. Just want to show some of you guys that I am actually working here.

I didn't even know my face was covered in mud until my boss told me.

This is Jason (one of my bosses). Obviously this is his mean face and this is his mean pose.

It was very intimidating at the time.

End of the day. No, I did not pee my pants. I just didn't dry up from the rain. By the way, these clothes were washed and clean the day before. Should I even bother?

This is Dave up on the ropes course.

And here's a close up.

Here's part of the course as we begin to work on it.

More to come.

Here's the ropes course with some of the cables up. Lookin' good.

Meeting of the minds.

This is Molokai. This is a rare sight. Usually the Island top is covered by clouds. All the the islands are actually.

Some Sunset picks.

Here's Dave hammering away on some wood.

Black & White Rainbow pic. I know it defeats the purpose but I thought it looked cool.

The color one.

More pics of the ropes course.

Getting it done on the ropes course.

My first video. Enjoy!

I realize that this blog was lacking in the writing department. I just had nothing to write about. When I do, I'll put more up. I hope the pictures and video are enough.

Week Three

I have more to report this week. We got a lot done at work. Took some more pictures as well. I'm sure you kids will enjoy the pics. Although there are none yet of the warm sunny beaches that you think of when you think of Hawaii. I'll put those up when I remember to take my camera to the beach.

Ok. So, here we go with the pictures. I'll give you the play by play:

In this picture, what you see is the lack of an ocean. If you scroll down to Week 2, you will notice that there is an ocean. You might be wondering, "What happened to the Pacific?" It's still there, it's just that it's raining and you can't see it. It rained on us all day that day. Not fun, but very muddy.

In this picture you see a bunch of poles. Not just any poles. These are Ropes Course Poles. The poles vary in height from 35ft, 45ft, and 55ft. We put these poles in place using very heavy machines and lots of manpower. Fun stuff!

Here is another set of poles that we put up. These are also part of the rope course, just not at the same place you just saw. These are for a tower. I believe that these are 55ft, but I'm not too sure. I'll ask later about that.

Now just to give you guys some scale. This is Zeke, he stands about 6'5"-6'6". Yup! Those poles are massive.

Just to give you some more scale. This is Gnat (pronounced Nat, the G is silent), he stands at about 5'10" or so. And I'm standing on a 15ft-20ft pile of mulch.

Here are a few Rainbow pics. Enjoy!

This Rainbow and . . . I think one of the other ones, is only a few hundred yards from us. Super close!

I realize that these Rainbows are beautiful. But just to be clear. It pours on us before we see these guys. Not always, but sometimes.
I think I failed to mention this on my last entries, but I work in a . . . RAINFOREST! How freakin' sweet is that!?

And this is Gnat . . . well you get the idea.

This here is the glorious deck that we built and stained(my Tio Rene would be proud). It rained on us all day that day.

The next two pictures are of our fleet of vehicles (not all of them) that we drive up to the site everyday. You gonna dig this.

Two more.

One would think that it would take days, maybe weeks to get these vehicles looking like this. Nah. It only takes one drive up the mountain. Not long at all. We off-road everyday. Some of us might even be amateur level rally car drivers by the time this job is done. Who knows?

Well kiddos, that's about all I got for this edition. I hope you enjoyed it and feel free to leave some comments. It helps to know that people are actually reading this. Know what I mean?
